Is your dispute resolution business where you want it to be?

Are you happy in your dispute resolution business? Looking for more clients? Struggling with getting your message out there to potential clients?

Welcome to the Business of Mediation.

This online workshop is for conflict professionals looking to create a strong foundation in their business, identify their target clients, and devise a strategy to get your message out into the world.

The Business of Mediation combines three critical elements that are essential to building a vibrant business. The first is Developing Your Core which assists in building your foundation. It dives deep into why you do what you do and the values that will guide you towards the vision you have for your business. Working on your core will help you develop a healthy mindset that will empower you to deal with the complexity and problems that come your way. The second, Developing Your Market, will journey alongside you as you identify those individuals who enable you to do your best work - target clients. By introducing a helpful model to help you use your existing passions, interests, and experiences, you’ll transform those into products, services, and referral contacts to help you grow your Dispute Resolution business. Lastly, Developing Your Message will introduce you to the Visibility Hub, which drives your entire message. In this section of the workshop, we’ll explore the various highways we can use to put your message in front of the right people so that you (and your clients) can succeed.

Hi, I’m Jason Dykstra and I’m looking forward to journeying alongside you.

I’ve been turning conflict situations into creative solutions for a decade now. Working with individuals across the organizational spectrum, I help you hold the difficult spaces so that you don’t have to go it alone.

I could bore you by telling you that I have a Master’s in Leadership, an Advanced Certificate in Conflict Management and Mediation, or even that I’m a Qualified Mediator, but let’s be honest: It’s not my education that taught me the most about conflict transformation. It’s the 500+ mediations and coaching sessions that I've walked with clients through.

Over the years, I have worked with and spoken to hundreds of conflict management professionals about how to grow their business, and I want to help you do the same. You’ve already spent thousands of dollars on your ADR training and I want to show you how you can use that training to market your business. The conflict field is unique and so is setting up your ADR business. Let me walk with you as you build your business so that you can bring your best self to each and every client.

As you’ll see throughout the workshop, I practice what I preach. The more people we have in the conflict management field doing incredible work for their clients, the better the field will be. That’s why I’m letting you pick the cost of this workshop. You read that correctly, I’m coming at this from a mindset of abundance and I’m not going to set a price…you are!

Here’s What Past Participants Have Said

I think this is a great course for anyone who is thinking about starting up any kind of business or who might want to look at how they can improve their existing one
— Heydi D.
This course is easy to understand and use. It helps you articulate who you are and what you really want to do. I would highly recommend this as a valuable first step on your road to building the business and life you were meant for.
— Kathleen M.
I would strongly recommend this workshop. In fact, I keep telling my husband (who is an artist & sculptor) that I think he would value much of what is in this course! You can feel it working on all the pieces of the puzzle. Thank you for setting this workshop in a way that makes me feel like I am putting on my own shoes, not someone else’s that really doesn’t fit!
— Martha N.
Jason organizes the “Three C’s” of Connection, Complexity and Community as a way to reflect on one’s core values. This was a very helpful way of thinking about how to grow my practice
— Ari K.

What’s in The Business of Mediation?

Business of Mediation

Course Overview

This self-paced, online course is equipped with a 60-page workbook filled with articles and exercises for you to work through. That workbook helps you put the one hour of video content into action. This course is organized into three sections:

Developing Your Core: The key to building a successful business starts at its core: You. You are what your clients will be buying so we will start by building a solid foundation that gets you crystal clear on why you do what you do, your values, and your vision for your business. We do this by exploring the three C’s of a solid foundation: Connection, Complexity, and Community.

Developing Your Market: A business would be nothing without its clients, and that is what this module is all about. Identifying the people that you will do your best work with, gaining clarity around the products and services you will be offering, and exploring your community to find your referral sources.

Developing Your Message: You can have the best services in the world, but if nobody knows about it - that’s a problem! In this module, we’re going to work through the Visibility Hub which will show you three different “highways” in which you can build your visibility to the people that matter most.

Not only do you get this course, but you’ll have the opportunity to email me at any time to ask your questions!

This course is FOR you if:

You are ready to put in the work.

Going through the lessons without actually implementing anything is kind of like putting on running shoes and sitting on the couch; you’re going to look good, but you won’t lose that extra 5-pounds you’ve been talking about. Your success is directly correlated to the amount of effort you put into it.

I’ve designed this course to be easy to navigate, and actionable as possible. So the choice is yours (and if you’re looking for accountability along the way, I’d be happy to help).

You’re ready to take a good look at your business.

Starting or reviving a business is not for the faint of heart. This course will ask you to take an honest and intense look into the foundation of your business and ask you some difficult questions. There’s no shortcut or easy answers here, but you know your business and your goals the best.

This course will show you how to slow things down so that you can maximize that big, beautiful brain of yours and show up with your best self in tow.

You are looking to build a sustainable business.

There are no shortcuts to building a business that is going to serve you for the length of your career. Taking this course is not going to make you an overnight success - building a strong foundation and plan takes some time and effort.

This course is going to show you how you can build an evergreen strategy that you can revisit, alter, and implement time and time again as the world around us changes.

Are You Ready?

When I used to offer this online course, I was charging $300, but right now the world is a little topsy-turvy. I remember what it was like starting my own dispute resolution business, and I had a few conflict management professionals help me, so now it’s my turn to pay it forward. That’s why I’m not going to set a price for this course, but rather, let you pay what you think it’s worth.
